Theatre isn't only something we create. It's something we experience.
One of the best ways for young performers to grow is to see other performers on stage. Watching live theatre exposes students to different approaches to acting, singing, dancing, storytelling, costumes, sets, lighting and more. It can spark creativity, inspire new ideas and help students discover new possibilities.
Group theatre outings will give K2K students and their families the opportunity to experience theatre together beyond our own productions. We hope to see a mix of professional, community and youth productions, giving students the chance to learn from other performers, cheer them on and become part of the wider theatre community.
Just as importantly, these outings are another opportunity for K2K families to connect, make memories and build friendships outside of regular programming.
How It Works
Group theatre experiences will be organized by K2K parent volunteers. For each production, we will suggest one performance date & time for K2K Students & Families to enjoy together. Participation is completely optional. If you are unable to attend a chosen performance date, don't let that stop you from seeing a show on your own schedule. Our goal is to select shows with storylines that are suitable for everyone, but please use your own discretion before joining.
- Ticket availability and pricing will vary by theatre and production
- Families are responsible for booking their own tickets
- Families are responsible for their own transportation to and from the theatre
- All students must be accompanied by an adult and parents/guardians are responsible for their children during the outing
- Where possible, we will recommend a meeting spot to connect with other families before the performance and during intermission

The Grand Theatre High School Project: School of Rock @ The Grand Theatre, London

K2K Date: Sunday, September 27 @ 2:00pm
Rock out with School of Rock, a high-energy musical about Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who poses as a substitute teacher and turns his class of students into a rock band. This production is especially exciting for K2K because it features high-school students performing on stage, giving our students the chance to see their peers take on the challenge of a full-scale musical. It's a great opportunity to experience live music, comedy, choreography and teamwork while cheering on other young performers.

Disney's The Little Mermaid (Youth Academy) @ Hamilton Family Theatre, Cambridge

Dive under the sea with Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder and friends in Disney's beloved The Little Mermaid. This production is part of Drayton Entertainment's Youth Academy High School Musical Production, giving K2K students the opportunity to watch young performers bring a well-known musical to life on a professional stage. It's a wonderful chance to see how acting, singing, dancing, costumes, sets and technical elements come together to create a magical theatrical experience.

Disney's Frozen @ Hamilton Family Theatre, Cambridge

Step into the magical world of Arendelle with Disney's Frozen! Follow sisters Anna and Elsa on a journey filled with friendship, family, adventure and unforgettable music. With spectacular costumes, sets, choreography and special effects, Frozen offers K2K students the chance to see how a beloved animated story is transformed into a live theatrical experience.

Mamma Mia @ Woodstock Collegiate Institute

Get ready to sing along to the music of ABBA in Mamma Mia!, a joyful musical about family, friendship, love and second chances. This production is being presented by WCI Red Devil Musical Theatre, giving K2K students the opportunity to see local high-school performers take on a full musical production.
